Event Summary
Narrative
On 12/23/2025 at approximately 12:00 AM, a Winter Weather event began to impact New York City as a fast-moving storm system moved across the Tri-State region. Light snowfall developed overnight and into the morning hours, producing accumulations ranging from a light coating to approximately 2 inches across parts of the city, with slightly higher totals in areas north and west of New York City. Snow during the early morning commute created slick roadways and reduced visibility, contributing to hazardous travel conditions across Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. As temperatures rose later in the day, snowfall mixed with and transitioned to rain in some areas before tapering off by the afternoon.
